Ultrasound Monitoring of Bone Healing in Ilizarov Bone Transport

This prospective study evaluates the role of ultrasound in assessing bony union during Ilizarov bone transport. Ultrasound findings will be compared with radiographic and clinical outcomes to determine its accuracy in detecting early bone healing and predicting mechanical stability. The study aims to establish ultrasound as a reliable, radiation-free tool to guide safe frame dynamization and removal.

Inclusion criteria

Patients who will have Ilizarov bone transport,bone lengthening or corrective osteotomy

Exclusion criteria

Otherwise bone transport,bone lengthening or corrective osteotomy

Patients with bone defect undergoing bone transport by Ilizarov frame

Primary outcomes

The role of Ultrasound in assessment of the bony union in bone transport by Ilizarov frame

Time frame: Baseline

Accuracy of US in diagnosing full consolidation of complete bony union and 2ry displacement in docking site as well as angulation of regenerate site.

Secondary outcomes

The role of Ultrasound in assessment of the bony union in bone transport by Ilizarov frame

Time frame: Baseline

correlation of ultrasound findings with radiographic and clinical outcomes of bone healing.
