Effects of Different Exercise Types on Irisin, Leptin, and Ghrelin Levels in Sedentary Women

This interventional study aims to investigate the acute effects of three different exercise modalities-aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT)-on irisin, leptin, and ghrelin levels in sedentary women. A total of 20 sedentary women will participate in the study. Hormonal responses will be evaluated in relation to the exercise sessions to determine exercise-induced changes in irisin, leptin, and ghrelin and to compare the responses associated with the three exercise modalities.

About this study

This interventional study is designed to investigate and compare the acute effects of aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on irisin, leptin, and ghrelin levels in sedentary women. A total of 20 sedentary women will participate in the study.

Participants will complete three different exercise conditions: aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, and HIIT. Irisin, leptin, and ghrelin levels will be evaluated in relation to each exercise condition to determine acute exercise-induced hormonal responses. The study will compare changes in these biomarkers across the three exercise modalities to determine whether the hormonal responses differ according to exercise type.

The study is intended to provide a better understanding of the acute endocrine and metabolic responses to exercise modalities with different physiological demands in sedentary women, with particular emphasis on irisin, leptin, and ghrelin.

Who can participate

Healthy volunteers accepted: Yes

Only the study team can determine whether someone qualifies for participation.

Inclusion criteria

Female participants Sedentary individuals Voluntary participation in the study Ability and willingness to complete the planned exercise sessions

Exclusion criteria

Inability to participate in the planned exercise sessions Withdrawal of consent or unwillingness to continue participation

Treatment and study plan

Aerobic Exercise

Behavioral

Participants will complete an aerobic exercise session as one of the three exercise conditions. Irisin, leptin, and ghrelin levels will be assessed in relation to the exercise session to determine the acute hormonal response to aerobic exercise.

Anaerobic Exercise

Behavioral

Participants will complete an anaerobic exercise session as one of the three exercise conditions. Irisin, leptin, and ghrelin levels will be assessed in relation to the exercise session to determine the acute hormonal response to anaerobic exercise.

High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

Behavioral

Participants will complete a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) session as one of the three exercise conditions. Irisin, leptin, and ghrelin levels will be assessed in relation to the exercise session to determine the acute hormonal response to HIIT.

Primary outcomes

  1. Change in Irisin Level

Time frame: Pre-exercise and immediately post-exercise during each exercise session

Irisin levels will be assessed in relation to each exercise condition to determine the change in circulating irisin levels associated with aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT)

  2. Change in Leptin Level

Time frame: Pre-exercise and immediately post-exercise during each exercise session

Leptin levels will be assessed in relation to each exercise condition to determine the change in circulating leptin levels associated with aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT).

  3. Change in Ghrelin Level

Time frame: Pre-exercise and immediately post-exercise during each exercise session

Ghrelin levels will be assessed in relation to each exercise condition to determine the change in circulating ghrelin levels associated with aerobic exercise, anaerobic exercise, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT).
