WT1 in Colorectal Adenocarcinoma

Colorectal carcinoma is a major bublic health problem. It is due to several genetic mutations. Wilms' tumor1 (WT1) gene is a tumor suppressor gene that has been mutated in several human tumors. Detection of WT1 in colorectal carcinoma may provide better future results.

Key information

About this study

Colorectal adenocarcinoma represents one third of human caners worldwide. It results from cumulative genetic mutations. the incidence of colorectal carcinoma is rising, so, detecting new therapeutic modalities is important. Wilms' Tumor 1 (WT1) gene is a tumor suppressor gene. in certain tumors; WT1 acts as an oncogene, facilitating tumor growth and spread. WT1 is also involved in angiogenesis. we decided to detect expression of WT1 in 60 patients with colorectal adenocarcinoma and detect any association between WT1 expression and certain tumor oarameters as perineural invasion, lymphovascular invasion, lymph node metastasis.

Who can participate

Healthy volunteers accepted: No

Only the study team can determine whether someone qualifies for participation.

Inclusion criteria

  • patients with colorectal adenocarcinoma.

Exclusion criteria

  • patients who received pre-operative neoadjuvant therapy.

Treatment and study plan

immunohistochemical staining with WT1 antibody

Biological

4 micrometer thick tissue sections will be stained by anti humal WT1 immunohistochemical antibody.

Primary outcomes

  1. detection of WT1 in colorectal adenocarcinoma

    Time frame: 6 months

detection of WT1 in colorectal adenocarcinoma and correlate its expression in tumor cells with certain parameters as patients ages, sexes, tumor grade, lymph node metastasis, lymphovascular invasion and perineural invasion.
