The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of thoracolumbar fascia release on scapular position and upper extremity function in adolescent volleyball players.
This randomised controlled trial included a total of 51 adolescent volleyball players (46 girls, 5 boys) aged 12-19 years. Individuals were randomly assigned to two groups (26 intervention group, 25 control group) using a sealed envelope method. Both groups underwent a scapular stabilisation exercise program three times a week for eight weeks. In addition to the scapular stabilization exercise program, the intervention group also received a thoracolumbar fascia release program three times a week for eight weeks. Before and after the study, all individuals were assessed for scapular dyskinesia using the lateral scapular glide test, and upper extremity function using the closed kinetic chain upper extremity stability test, upper extremity Y-balance test, medicine ball throw test, and Q-DASH questionnaire.
