The Outcomes of Living Donor Robotic Assisted Kidney Transplantation

The technology for robot-assisted kidney transplantation (RAKT) has become increasingly advanced, with numerous studies demonstrating comparable outcomes between RAKT surgery and open surgery. This advancement is particularly noteworthy as it extends its suitability to transplant patients with obesity. It will be important to explore the results of robot-assisted kidney transplantation as compared with open surgery or within cohorts.

Who can participate

Healthy volunteers accepted: No

Only the study team can determine whether someone qualifies for participation.

Inclusion criteria

  • living-donor kidney transplant recipients
  • receiving standard triad immunosuppressive regimen

Exclusion criteria

  • active infection
  • multi-organ transplantation
  • malignancy history in the donor and recipient
  • human immunodeficiency virus infection

Treatment and study plan

Primary outcomes

  1. The graft function of recipients

    Time frame: in the follow-up period，about six months to one year

    the graft function of recipients per month after transplant surgery, assessed by the serum creatinine (umol/L) and estimated glomerular function rate (eGFR).

Secondary outcomes

  1. total operative time

    Time frame: about 150 minutes to 300 minutes

    The time from the beginning of the procedure to the end of the procedure (minute)
