Dietary Supplement

Nitrate-rich beetroot juice supplementation was administered for 15 consecutive days to participants in this arm

Other names: Beetroot juice

Placebo

Dietary Supplement

Primary outcomes

  1. Running economy

Time frame: Changes from baseline at 15 days

The cost of running (oxygen consumption) at different speeds

Secondary outcomes

  1. Time to exhaustion

Time frame: Changes from baseline at 15 days

Time that the athlete endured running until voluntarily ending the exercise

  2. Muscle power

Time frame: Changes from baseline at 15 days

Ability to produce muscle power in a jump test

  3. Muscle oxygenation

Time frame: Changes from baseline at 15 days

Saturation of O2 in the vastus lateralis during exercise

  4. RPE

Time frame: Changes from baseline at 15 days

Rate of perceived exertion during the exercise

  5. Running mechanics

Time frame: Changes from baseline at 15 days

Contact and flight time of each step during the exercise
