Assessment of upper airway using ultrasound to show it's value in weaning and extubation

Who can participate

Only the study team can determine whether someone qualifies for participation.

Inclusion criteria

  • Patient's age more than eighteen years.
  • Patients passed spontaneous breathing trials.
  • hemodynamically stable patients

Exclusion criteria

  • Patients that are younger than 18 years old.
  • Patients that hemodynamically unstable
  • Patients didn't pass spontaneous breathing trials.
  • diaphragm dysfunction
  • lung congestion

Treatment and study plan

Primary outcomes

  1. measuring the Air column width difference of the upper airway by using upper airway ultrasound for prediction of weaning outcomes in mechanically ventilated patients.

    Time frame: through study completion, an average of 1 year.
