Reliability of Optical and Ultrasound Biometry in Silicon Filled Eyes

Optical and ultrasound biometry will be done for Patients who will undergo pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) and silicon oil injection preoperative and post operative 1 month

About this study

Optical and ultrasound biometry will be done for Patients who will undergo PPV and silicon oil injection preoperative and post operative 1 month , patients will be subdevided into 2 groups PPV with silicon oil tamponade and another group phacovitrectomy with silicon oil tamponade for assesment of postoperative refraction

Who can participate

Healthy volunteers accepted: No

Only the study team can determine whether someone qualifies for participation.

Inclusion criteria

  • patients with clinical diagnosis of retinal detachment (RD)
  • planned for pars plana vitrectomy with silicon oil tamponade

Exclusion criteria

  • previous intraocular surgery
  • failed optical biometry acquisition
  • recurrent RD
  • combined scleral buckle surgery

optical and ulrtasound biometry

Optical and ultrasound biometry preoperative and postoperative 1 month

Primary outcomes

  1. axial length

    Time frame: 1 month

    changes in axial length in mm post operative using optical and ultrasound biometry

  2. Anterior chamber (AC) depth

    Time frame: 1 month

    changes in AC depth in mm post operative using optical and ultrasound biometry

  3. Intra ocular length (IOL) power

    Time frame: 1 month

    changes in IOL power in diopter post operative using optical and ultrasound biometry
