About this study

The purpose of this study is to determine the locoregional control in PET/CT based radiotherapy treatment planning in the treatment of esophageal cancer patients

Who can participate

Healthy volunteers accepted: No

Only the study team can determine whether someone qualifies for participation.

Inclusion criteria

  • Histologically proven adenocarcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus
  • Local curable disease able to undergo Chemoradiotherapy.

Exclusion criteria

  • Metastasized disease.
  • Previous or concurrent malignancies.

Treatment and study plan

Primary outcomes

  1. Locoregional control

    Time frame: 2 years and 5 years

Secondary outcomes

  1. Overall Survival

    Time frame: 2 years and 5 years

  2. Disease Free survival

    Time frame: 2 years and 5 years

  3. Tumor regression grade

    Time frame: At the time of surgery

    Tumor regression grade at time of surgery evaluated by pathologist.
