This retrospective observational study aims to evaluate early marginal bone loss around dental implants using panoramic radiographs. Radiographic records of patients who underwent mandibular dental implant surgery and implant-supported prosthetic rehabilitation will be reviewed. Marginal bone loss will be measured on the mesial and distal aspects of each implant at final restoration delivery and at follow-up periods after prosthetic loading. The study will also assess patient-, implant-, and prosthesis-related factors associated with marginal bone loss.

Time frame: At final restoration delivery, 6 months, 18 months, and 60 months after prosthetic loading
Marginal bone loss will be assessed on panoramic radiographs by measuring the linear distance from the implant platform to the nearest supporting crestal bone on the mesial and distal aspects of each implant. Mesial, distal, and mean marginal bone loss values will be recorded in millimeters.
Time frame: Up to 60 months after prosthetic loading
The effect of implant length on mean marginal bone loss will be evaluated using regression analysis. Implant length will be recorded in millimeters from patient records and implant system information. Mean marginal bone loss will be calculated by averaging mesial and distal marginal bone loss measurements for each implant.
Time frame: Up to 60 months after prosthetic loading.
The effect of implant diameter on mean marginal bone loss will be evaluated using regression analysis. Implant diameter will be recorded in millimeters from patient records and implant system information. Mean marginal bone loss will be calculated by averaging mesial and distal marginal bone loss measurements for each implant.
Time frame: Up to 60 months after prosthetic loading.
The effect of abutment height on mean marginal bone loss will be evaluated using regression analysis. Abutment height will be recorded in millimeters from prosthetic records. Mean marginal bone loss will be calculated by averaging mesial and distal marginal bone loss measurements for each implant.
Time frame: Up to 60 months after prosthetic loading.
The effect of implant-tooth distance on mean marginal bone loss will be evaluated using regression analysis. Implant-tooth distance will be measured on panoramic radiographs as the horizontal distance between the implant and the adjacent natural tooth when applicable. Mean marginal bone loss will be calculated by averaging mesial and distal marginal bone loss measurements for each implant.
Time frame: Up to 60 months after prosthetic loading.
The effect of implant-implant distance on mean marginal bone loss will be evaluated using regression analysis. Implant-implant distance will be measured on panoramic radiographs as the horizontal distance between adjacent implants when applicable. Mean marginal bone loss will be calculated by averaging mesial and distal marginal bone loss measurements for each implant.
Time frame: Up to 60 months after prosthetic loading.
The effect of emergence profile angle on mean marginal bone loss will be evaluated using regression analysis. Emergence profile angle will be recorded in degrees when applicable. Mean marginal bone loss will be calculated by averaging mesial and distal marginal bone loss measurements for each implant.
Time frame: Up to 60 months after prosthetic loading.
Mean marginal bone loss will be compared according to implant placement level. Implant placement level will be categorized as crestal, subcrestal, or supracrestal according to the vertical position of the implant platform relative to the crestal bone level. Mean marginal bone loss will be calculated by averaging mesial and distal marginal bone loss measurements for each implant.
Time frame: Up to 60 months after prosthetic loading.
Mean marginal bone loss will be compared according to prosthetic restoration type. Prosthetic restoration type will be categorized according to the type of implant-supported prosthetic rehabilitation, including single crown, fixed partial prosthesis, splinted crowns, full-arch fixed restoration, or removable prosthesis. Mean marginal bone loss will be calculated by averaging mesial and distal marginal bone loss measurements for each implant.
Time frame: Up to 60 months after prosthetic loading.
Mean marginal bone loss will be compared according to opposing arch condition. Opposing arch condition will be categorized according to the dentition or prosthetic status of the opposing arch. Mean marginal bone loss will be calculated by averaging mesial and distal marginal bone loss measurements for each implant.
