Comparison of McGrath Laryngoscope With Macintosh Laryngoscope in Obstetric Patients Undergoing Cesarean Section

The goal of this clinical trial is to compare the McGrath video laryngoscope with the Macintosh laryngoscope in patients undergoing cesarean section.

Inclusion criteria

  • Age 18 - 45 years
  • American society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) II patients

Exclusion criteria

  • Category 1 Cesarean section
  • Anticipated difficult airway
  • Renal, hepatic, neuro-muscular, or cardiovascular illness

Treatment and study plan

McGrath Video Laryngoscope

Device

A video laryngoscope.

Macintosh laryngoscope

Device

A classic laryngoscope.

Primary outcomes

  1. Intubation time

    Time frame: 30 - 60 seconds from laryngoscope insertion in the oral cavity till detection of end tidal carbon dioxide trace.

  2. Cormack Lehane grade

    Time frame: During laryngoscopy.

  3. Pogo score

    Time frame: During laryngoscopy.

Secondary outcomes

  1. Mean Arterial Blood Pressure

    Time frame: Before intubation and 1 minute after intubation

  2. Heart Rate

    Time frame: Before intubation and 1 minute after intubation.
