Following parameters were compared: modified Barthel-Index, pain, complications, developing of heterotopic ossification.

Exclusion criteria
represented acute local or systemic infection, open or pathological fractures, concomitant injuries of the ipsi- or contralateral leg and rheumatoid arthritis.
