About this study

Our study was an anonymous, questionnaire-based, cross-sectional study utilizing frequency-scale questions. The 2025 American Diabetes Association (ADA) 'Standards of Care in Diabetes' served as the guiding framework for this study, specifically Section 8, titled 'Obesity and Weight Management for the Prevention and Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes' . An online questionnaire was developed, consisting of questions that assessed the frequency of implementing the ADA guidelines, and was distributed to medical personnel nationwide for completion.

Physicians practicing in Greece
Physicians treating patients with Diabetes Mellitus type 2 and Obesity

A questionnaire titled "Physicians' adherence to the current clinical guidelines for the management of patients with type two diabetes mellitus and obesity" was formed, consisting of two sections and 18 closed-ended questions in total. Τhe first part focused on demographics and included four questions, while the second addressed the frequency of adherence to clinical guidelines and consisted of fourteen questions. A 5-point Likert scale, ranging from 'never', 'rarely' (1 - 2 times a month), 'sometimes' (1 - 2 times a week), 'frequently' (3 - 4 times a week) to 'always' (everyday), was used for the 14 questions, aiming to quantify the frequency of implementation. An introductory statement accompanied the questionnaire to provide study details and guarantee anonymous responses.
