Risk Factors of Venous Thrombotic Event in Interstitial Lung Disease

This study aims to determine the incidence of venous thromboembolic events (VTE), including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), among hospitalized patients with interstitial lung disease (ILD). It will also identify potential risk factors associated with VTE and evaluate its impact on clinical outcomes. Patients with ILD admitted to the hospital will be assessed for clinical characteristics, disease severity, risk factors for thrombosis, and the occurrence of DVT or PE during hospitalization. The study findings may help improve early recognition of VTE and guide appropriate preventive and diagnostic strategies in hospitalized patients with ILD.

Inclusion criteria

Age ≥ 18 years. Patients admitted to the respiratory ICU, Chest Department

Exclusion criteria

Age < 18 years. Patients already receiving therapeutic anticoagulation before admission. Known inherited thrombophilia. Active malignancy. Pregnancy. Patients refusing participation. Recent major surgery or trauma within previous 4 weeks.

Treatment and study plan

Primary outcomes

Primary outcome: Incidence of venous thromboembolic events (VTE)

Time frame: One Year

Number and proportion of adult patients with ILD who develop objectively confirmed venous thromboembolic events, defined as DVT and/or pulmonary embolism, during hospitalization.

Secondary outcomes

Length of hospital stay

Time frame: One year
Requirement and level of respiratory support

Time frame: One Year
ICU admission and length of ICU stay

Time frame: One Year
In-hospital mortality

Time frame: One Year
