The Effect of Aerobic Exercise on the Irisin/Klotho/Sirtuin-1/BDNF Axis

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of an acute aerobic exercise on irisin, klotho, sirtuin-1, and BDNF levels in the healthy adults. The findings will help understand the physiological impacts of exercise on these biomarkers.

Treatment and study plan

Aerobic Exercise

Behavioral

Acute aerobic exercise until exhaustion

Primary outcomes

  1. Salivary Irisin Level

Time frame: Baseline- immediately after exercise and 1 hours after exercise

Irisin concentration will be determined from a saliva sample using the ELISA technique.

  2. Salivary Klotho Level

Time frame: Baseline- immediately after exercise and 1 hours after exercise

Klotho concentration will be determined from a saliva sample using the ELISA technique.

  3. Salivary Sirtuin Level

Time frame: Baseline- immediately after exercise and 1 hours after exercise

Sirtuin concentration will be determined from a saliva sample using the ELISA technique.

  4. Salivary BDNF Level

Time frame: Baseline- immediately after exercise and 1 hours after exercise

BDNF concentration will be determined from a saliva sample using the ELISA technique.

Secondary outcomes

  1. Saliva Flow Rate

Time frame: Baseline- İmmediately after exercise and 1 hour after exercise

It will be calculated individually by dividing the weight of the saliva collected within one minute by the duration.
