Disaster Nursing Education in Family Health Centers

This study examines the effect of a training program based on the Jennings Disaster Nursing Management Model on disaster preparedness perception, self-efficacy, and resilience among nurses working in family health centers in Hatay, Turkey. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an intervention group, which will receive a 14-week structured training program, or a control group, which will not receive the training during the study period. Preparedness perception, self-efficacy, and resilience will be measured before and after the intervention using standardized questionnaires. The study aims to determine whether this training improves nurses' readiness to respond to disasters in primary health care settings.

Inclusion criteria

Registered nurse currently working at a family health center (ASM) in Hatay Province
Voluntary agreement to participate in the study
No prior participation in a disaster nursing training program based on the Jennings model

Exclusion criteria

Nurses on extended leave during the study period
Nurses who do not complete the baseline assessment

Jennings Disaster Nursing Management Model-Based Training Program

Behavioral

A 14-week structured training program based on the Jennings Disaster Nursing Management Model, delivered through approximately 30-minute face-to-face sessions, designed to improve disaster preparedness perception, self-efficacy, and resilience among family health center nurses.

Primary outcomes

Change in Disaster Preparedness Perception Score

Time frame: Baseline and immediately after completion of the 14-week training program

Assessed using the Disaster Preparedness Perception Scale (HAHAÖ), a 20-item scale with three subdimensions (Preparedness, Response, Post-Disaster Period). Higher scores indicate greater preparedness perception.
