Treatment and study plan

Chess Programme

Behavioral

Four chess sessions will be held for the intervention group. Each session is scheduled to last 35-40 minutes, with sessions taking place at weekly intervals.

Primary outcomes

  1. Critical Thinking Disposition Scale

Time frame: The data collection tools will be administered as a pre-test and a post-test (four week later).

The scale consists of 5 dimensions and a total of 49 items. The scale is rated on a scale of "Strongly agree (5), Mostly agree (4), Somewhat agree (3), Mostly disagree (2), Strongly disagree (1)". The total score for the scale ranges from 49 to 245. As the total score on the scale increases, the tendency towards critical thinking increases.

  2. Cognitive Flexibility Inventory

Time frame: The data collection tools will be administered as a pre-test and a post-test (four weeks later).

The scale comprises 20 items and is rated on a 5-point Likert scale (1) Not at all appropriate, 2) Not very appropriate, 3) Undecided, 4) Appropriate and 5) Completely appropriate). The maximum score on the measure is 100 and the minimum is 20. A higher score on the scale indicates an increase in cognitive flexibility.
