NCT Number: NCT07767786
Background: Pecha Kucha may support concise and organized health education presentations, but its contribution when added to conventional PowerPoint presentations remains unclear.
Method: In this randomized, posttest-only controlled study, 272 first-year nursing students were assigned to PowerPoint-only or PowerPoint-plus-Pecha Kucha groups. Presentation skills, motivation, and satisfaction were assessed after the presentations.

Participants received a 25-minute structured training session on the Pecha Kucha presentation technique. The training included the purpose and principles of Pecha Kucha, the 20 × 20 format, automatic slide progression, visual slide preparation, timing, and presentation delivery. Participants then prepared and delivered a 25-minute PowerPoint presentation on an assigned health education topic, followed by a 6-minute 40-second Pecha Kucha summary consisting of 20 slides displayed for 20 seconds each.
Participants prepared and delivered a conventional 25-minute PowerPoint presentation on the assigned health education topic. No Pecha Kucha training was provided, and the Pecha Kucha presentation format was not used during the study.
Time frame: Immediately post-intervention
Presentation skills were assessed using the Presentation Skills Assessment Form (PSAF), which consists of 25 items scored as 0, 2, or 4. Total scores range from 0 to 100, with higher scores indicating better presentation skills.
Time frame: Immediately post-intervention
Motivation was assessed using the Instructional Materials Motivation Survey (IMMS), which consists of 24 items rated on a five-point Likert scale. Total scores range from 24 to 120, with higher scores indicating greater motivation toward the instructional material.
Time frame: Immediately post-intervention
Satisfaction with the presentation method was assessed using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) ranging from 0 ("not satisfied at all") to 10 ("very satisfied"), with higher scores indicating greater satisfaction.
