NCT Number: NCT07741760

EVALUATION OF EMG-BASED MUSCLE ACTIVATION DURING REFORMER AND MAT PILATES USING VARIATIONS OF THE SINGLE-LEG BRIDGE EXERCISE.

This study aims to evaluate and compare muscle activation patterns during single-leg bridge exercise variations performed on mat and reformer Pilates equipment using surface electromyography (sEMG). The effects of different reformer spring resistances on neuromuscular activation will also be investigated.

Primary outcomes

  1. Surface Electromyographic (sEMG) Activity of Trunk and Lower Extremity Muscles

Time frame: Measured during a single study visit Day 1 while participants performed the exercise conditions.

Surface electromyographic activity (%MVIC) of the erector spinae, gluteus maximus, biceps femoris, semimembranosus, upper and lower rectus abdominis, medial gastrocnemius, and lateral gastrocnemius was measured during single-leg bridge and single-leg bridge with heel raise exercises performed on a mat and on a reformer under five different spring resistance conditions.
